Today I made a big change to my documentary, successfully getting touch with 'JB' - a former hunter who has asked to remain anonymous. I read his story and knew I had to get him involved in my documentary. It was a side narrative to the piece that not only showed the dark side of hunting but gave a first hand account of how hunting, ruined a hunter's life.
After successfully running the stings of 28 sex offenders, all of whom were convicted, JB's life was turned upside down when the hunter, became the hunted. His images were stolen by online trolls, who JB expects to be a collection of the predators he exposed, and were doctored and put on social making JB himself out to be a paedophile.
This led to JB suffering with mental health issues as well as suicidal thoughts over the past two years which has left JB unable to get a job.
Albeit slightly straying from the narrative I'd previously planned, I feel like this new side narrative will be an effective way to break my documentary up as well as evoking emotion and providing balance.
